I refuse to go on TikTok as a matter of principal. Actually, I have no valid reason for my refusal other than I just can’t handle one more social media channel to be a part of! But lucky for me, people in my FB groups do and they shared this ah-mazing recipe for Dalgona Coffee.
Essentially, Dalgona Coffee is like an upside down latte. The milk is poured in the bottom of the glass and then topped with this whipped, rich, delightful coffee mixture. And when I say rich, read that to mean awesomely sweet! You can adjust the sweetener to your liking.
I won’t bore you with the details of where this originated. Let’s just skip right to the recipe!
- 1 Tbsp Instant Coffee
- 1 Tbsp sweetener of your choice (I used maple syrup for a vegan option but most people use sugar)
- 1 Tbsp water
- 4 oz milk of your choice (I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk)
First, decide if you want this to be a hot or cold beverage. Pour milk into the bottom of a glass or mug. If you want it to be hot, heat up your milk.
Mix coffee, sweetener, and water together in a small mixing bowl. With a hand mixer (I used my electric one as it is a lot of whipping!), mix those ingredients together until they are thick and foamy. This can take up to 5 minutes – be patient! The end product is worth the wait.
Pour the coffee mixture on top of the milk and enjoy!
